Award winning English wines from Summerhouse Vineyard
Summerhouse Vineyard lies on a sheltered south facing , limestone slope within the area of the ancient Barnsdale forest, close to the village of Selbrooke. The first vines were planted in 2005. These were Rondo and Seyval Blanc. In 2006 Madelaine Angervin and Pinot Noir were planted and in 2007 Phoenix were added. Today our small vineyard is just one hectare in size. Over the years we have produced some fine quality wines and are now presenting our 2010 vintage. English winesEnglish wines have their own distinct flavour and a growing international reputation. Such is the respect and demand for English wines many suppliers now find demand outstripping supply with sales of English wines at a an all time high. The vines of the 5 different grape varieties we grow at Summerhouse vineyard produce white and red wines and a sparkling wine. It takes two years to produce a sparkling wine and we will have a sparkling rose next year. Summerhouse wines are lovely to drink at any time of the year, with the whites particularly good in the summer. Whichever of our wines you choose, delight your friends and family with distinctive English wines. Our sparkling wine is now very popular and is a perfect wine for parties and special celebrations. Award winning English WineSummerhouse vineyard produces eight to ten thousand bottles a year. Our Rondo wine was awarded best red wine’ at the Mercian Vineyards association competition with a silver medal (2011). We also won best wine maker in North Mercia. The slightly sweeter Miller’s choice received a bronze medal and Summertime white wine was highly commended.
